Remote and work-from-anywhere jobs are not the same!
Most job seekers expect remote roles will allow them to work from anywhere, but many employers still require you to be physically located in a specific country, state or province.
This is typically because there is a ton of HR “stuff” they need to comply with–from collecting and remitting the proper income tax for their employees to complying with local employment rules.
Here’s what I recommend to job seekers looking for true work-from-anywhere roles:
1️⃣ Research roles that are commonly posted as work-from-anywhere.
2️⃣ Market your existing skills and experience that match those roles, and upskill if needed.
3️⃣ Research companies that truly offer work-from-anywhere roles (not just remote roles).
4️⃣ Follow those companies on LinkedIn, subscribe to their job alerts and network with their recruiters and hiring managers.
