Hello, my name is Julianna Yau Yorgan and I’m a career coach who helps introverts succeed in the workplace by unleashing their introvert superpowers.

Today, I’m going to share with you: What a pre decision is, how do you use them in a job search and why it’s so powerful for introverts to use in their job search.

I choose this topic because I know looking for a new job can be so stressful for introverts, especially as we make multiple decisions for every job we look at.

So I thought about the most stressful job search that I had and it was definitely after I got laid off from BlackBerry.

Because I use pre decisions, I ended up turning down a job that would have paid like 10 to 15,000 less than what I was making before at BlackBerry and I still ended up Landing another job that got me a promotion and a raise instead.

So let’s jump in first. What is a pre decision? It’s kind of something that I made up when I was going through my job search.

I realized that I would need to make a lot of decisions including eventually having to decide to take a pay cut, but I knew I didn’t want to make that decision too early and undervalue myself.

So what I decided to do was figure out all the decisions that I would need to make during the job search sit down and make all of those dishes decisions ahead of time to figure out okay.

At what point in time will I actually consider a pay cut? And even at what point in time will I consider taking a lateral move and instead of trying to get the promotion and the raise that I was already on track to get.

So a pre-decision would basically be for you looking at all the decisions that you think you need to make whether it’s the salary the location the terms of employment such as how often you need to be at the office.

Figuring out all of that and deciding ahead of time what that is and it’s such a powerful thing for introverts because really we need so much time to make those decisions.

We don’t like making decisions under pressure. So that takes a lot of the stress out of the job search because you can look at a job and have already decided. Okay, this this mostly fits what I’m looking for, so I’ll apply.

Or this is something that we we we don’t think we’re gonna take because it doesn’t pay enough or it requires us to be in the office full-time and that’s not something that works for our lifestyle.

So I find that making those decisions ahead of time is really really key for introverts. So stay tuned next week for what I share how I was offered another promotion and a raise a month into my first job after BlackBerry.

And why I turned that one down too.
